                                       WE SHOULD NEVER FORGET

-In a democracy the Citizens of Malden deserve to have their voices heard.

2009 you did and won 68-25% as our elected officials still ignored you. Then they tabled the issue at the Council from being heard for 6 months!

-We support recycle efforts of the City.

2010 The City claims they are good, but why do they not publish the monthly totals for us to review them?

-The blue trash tax bags are a thinly veiled override of proposition 2 ½.

2010 The Mayor has mentioned in his June budget presentation to the City Council, that he may have to still do this! After a rash of shootings  in the city, the Council President calls them "random acts" of violence. However, he still hints at a property tax increase, to bring back laid off police officers.

-If you don't vote in November, it may be the last time you will be heard on this issue.

2010 many politicians in our city claim that the people are getting use to the Trash Bag Tax-after two years! Our reply is always-really? Our newsletters made it out to some of the neighborhoods the week of 8/14/2010 and people are still angry with the TBT.

- The Mayor states that there would never be any layoffs of public safety personnel if the Trash Bag Tax was passed.

We state again, how many employees lost their jobs this past July?

-Both education systems (public and charter) in our city have spent or received $18.2 million dollars these past few weeks. They spend our tax dollars on athlethic fields, synthetic turf, five revised budgets where money is placed in a book account that "might" get new books for our kids. 378k is given to rent a public park and the education entity has an option to buy the field-the permit would cost nothing to the taxpayer.

Our students need quality facilities for academic purposes and not to win championships. We need to produce students that can compete in the global job market. We recommend to both entities that they stop wasting our tax dollars and work together to get all od our students on the fields. Stop making us look like some backwater southern state that has a state of the art weight room and football field. But has a school with a roof that leaks and ten year old pc's.

Our Goals:

-Provide advocacy for the democratic process in our City.

-Be prepared to have local issues that affect us brought to light and if necessary on the ballot for our vote to matter and count.

-Help educate the community on recycling efforts of the city.

-We seek transparency in City of Malden budgets, contracts, negotiations and bids.

To the Malden Taxpayer:

As we move forward, our members should be very proud of what we have accomplished these past few years. We ready ourselves again for another possible campaign against a proposition 2 1/2 override. We know that we will have lofty expectations from the community to defeat City Hall. We believe that this grab for additional tax dollars is a ploy by the Mayor to scare the property owners into the belief that there is no money in the city. We are reasonable people, just like the 125+ people that helped us garner 10,000 signatures in 2008. This time, the Mayor, City Council and their cohorts will use scare tactics of no money for public safety and lies about us.

We offer City Hall, the opportunity to open the books from 2006 and let the people review them online. This request would include, check registers, copies of cancelled checks, bank statements and our $185,000 a year audit reports for the past four years.

The Mayor and his cohorts, in our opinion will view our offer with contempt and arrogance when they continue with their behind closed doors, pat the hack on the back and good ol boy network that exists in our city.

We thank our volunteers from 2008 and 2009. We may just need to call upon some of them again to get the word out to their neighbors and friends. We also will need new people to take up the cause to end a city government that we do not trust anymore with our tax dollars.

MTFA

Never forget, that we earn and won public opinion in 2009. We still have it on our side, when and if, we must oppose our unjust and corrupt local government.
